If you’re suffering a case of “the Mondays” in Las Vegas, you only have yourself to blame. Why? Because no one could be bored having this much fun. See, Mondays have long been a popular industry night on The Strip, but you don’t have to work in hospitality to reap its benefits—especially not with the launch of Monday Mix at The Cosmopolitan.
One Monday night each month (the next edition caps off Labor Day Weekend on Sept. 3), the center-Strip resort unleashes a bevy of drinking, dining and entertainment exclusives at its celebrated restaurants, lounges and nightclubs. Monday Mix gives you license to explore and indulge however you want, all under one crystal-draped ceiling.
So where do you start? You’re welcome to wing it, but we already scoped out the scene last month, so why don’t you let us propose a framework for the evening?
Mix it up
Kick off your pregame with cocktails at CliQue Bar & Lounge at 9PM. That’s when Monday Mix takes over and CliQue’s master mixologists start preparing the evening’s exclusive beverage: Midsummer Night’s Dream.
A combination of citrus vodka, strawberry, gomme syrup, and lemon juice, Midsummer Night’s Dream is the perfect complement to Chef Brian Massie’s ever-evolving menu of small bites. Even if you’re waiting on a dinner reservation, you can warm up with must-try bites like Prosciutto Wrapped Dates, vegan Mini No-Way Sliders, or the Crudo Bites plate (Seabass, spicy tuna, and yellowtail) – the latter another Monday Mix exclusive.
You can’t really stop by CliQue without getting a taste of Tableside Mixology, which features a special menu and cocktail cart that comes to you, so you can watch dazzling libations being crafted from the comfort of your booth. The experience becomes truly Instagram-worthy when your mixologist pulls out the blowtorch—smokey cocktails are a CliQue specialty. We recommend the Bow Street Banana, a mix of Jameson Caskmates Irish whiskey and Pedro Ximenez sherry, with chocolate bitters and, you guessed it, brûléed banana.
All you should eat
After you’ve raised a glass to your mixologist and taken in some of the sights—or hit the tables—on The Cosmopolitan’s gaming floor, make your way upstairs to get your grub on. Monday Mix is all about the culinary exclusives, with five of the resort’s award-winning and buzzworthy restaurants offering specially priced dishes to fuel the night ahead.
Stop on Level 2 to sample the Monday Mix offerings at Chef David Chang’s Momofuku: Chicken Salad Bun (avocado, cilantro, and crispy onion) and Smoked Trout Roe Rice (corn, heirloom tomato, and asparagus). From the cocktail menu, you’ll want to treat yourself to Momofuku’s Koala Buzz, made with vodka, ginger, lemon, honey and eucalyptus. It comes garnished with your own tiny Koala toy, which you can take with you.
Just an escalator ride above Momofuku awaits The Cosmopolitan’s third level, long one of The Strip’s most popular dining destinations. Here you’ll find four restaurants offering Monday Mix specials: Beauty & Essex, Blue Ribbon, STK, and zuma.
At Beauty & Essex, you can enjoy a buy-one-get-one featured cocktail from 9 to 11PM at the restaurant’s famed Pearl Lounge and Pawn Circle. If you’re staying for dinner, Monday Mix offers a complimentary dessert from Chef Chris Santos with the purchase of an entrée.
For those who prefer light snacks to a big meal, Chef Rainer Becker’s modern Japanese destination zuma offers an exclusive selection of salty edamame, fried squid, and chef’s selection skewer with purchase of a signature cocktail or 300ml bottle of zuma’s house Fukukomachi junmai ginjo sake.
Blue Ribbon’s Strawberry Field (blonde vermouth, Prosecco, and strawberry) rates among the best Monday Mix offerings. All you taste is strawberries, and it goes down so smoothly. Pair that with the restaurant’s Foie butter and Béchamel French bread pizza and you’re good to go for the night.
Craving protein? Take flight at STK with a trio of sliders (Wagyu, crab, and short rib) complemented by a flight of unique spirits, served neat, naturally. Tell your friends to meet you in the STK bar, where you can all sample Chef Stephen Hopcraft’s menu while a DJ cranks up the jams nearby. The party is already starting, and you haven’t even hit the club … yet.
Make your Marq(uee)
This is what you came for. After you’ve pregamed, it’s time to toast the town and make some new friends on the Marquee Nightclub dance floor. Thanks to Monday Mix, you can get inside with complimentary entry, just in time to catch one of the evening’s resident headliners.
Marquee’s talent roster includes some of the most established (and emerging) artists in hip-hop and dance music. Peep the club’s event calendar to scope out the roster. Will you be in front of the stage for “Anywhere” artist DJ Mustard, or might you catch dynamic Dutch DJ/producer duo W&W? No matter who’s behind the decks, the dance floor is guaranteed to be lit.
Want to level up your Marquee experience? Mention “Monday Mix” to your server to find out what’s inside the exclusive Mr. Q Monday bottle package. Even we don’t know what’s in there—and if we did, we wouldn’t tell you: some secrets are best kept undercover.
Was that even a Monday?
In Las Vegas, if you’re doing it right, it doesn’t matter. You’ve taken what’s considered the most mundane of weekdays and turned it on its head. As long as you’ve got enough charge left in your phone to get you home at the end of the night, you can claim victory.
The best part? You’ve got a whole month of rest until Monday Mix returns.
